The area around Reverchon Park was once known as Raccoon Springs a popular hunting area. The area also has the largest oak tree in Dallas! Later the area became known as Woodchuck Hill a slum district. When the Park Department acquired the property the park and later the recreation center, built in 1974, was named for Julien Reverchon the best and most widely known botanist in the county, if not the state. Located in the heart of Uptown this facility is the perfect site for family get-togethers and fitness enthusiasts alike! Play in the park at our large covered playground, or enjoy easy access to the Katy Trail for a leisurely stroll or intense run. We have an excellent fitness center that offers state of the art machines and free weights to meet your fitness needs. Join us inside the recreation center for day and evening classes, including Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi, Texercise, Ballroom Dance, Karate, Badminton, and Sports Leagues. Come check us out!
