1. Can my kindergartner attend summer camp?

Our Recreation Center summer camps are for children ages 5 to 12 years of age. Children must be 5 years of age as of 9/1 of the current school year. Children will be broken into groups based on ages. Some Recreation Center locations offer teen camps for youth ages 13 to 17. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) camps are for children ages 6 to 12 years of age and Send A Kid To Camp sites accept children ages 6 to 15.

2. Will my child be able to bring electronic devices to camp?

We are able to achieve our results by providing a safe, focused and engaging environment, free of unnecessary distractions for the campers such as trying to secure electronic equipment. For this reason, all audio/visual devices such as music players, headphones, iPods, cell phones, tablets, etc. should be left at home.

3. What are the hours for your camp?

Recreation Center camp hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Community Development Block Grant camp hours are Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Send A Kid To Camp hours are Monday - Thursday 9:30am - 3:30pm. Please know, all camps are closed July 4th.

4. Can I register online?

Online registration for Recreation Center Summer Camps is available beginning Monday, April 3, 2017. Parents registering online are required to contact the recreation center for the mandatory parent meeting information as well as fill out registration packets prior to the first day of camp.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Send A Kid To Camp (SAKTC) sites are not available for online registration.

5. What are the backgrounds and experience of the Camp staff?

The people we hire are enthusiastic, supportive and committed to positively impacting the lives of our youth. The City of Dallas requires all staff to submit to extensive background checks as well as drug and alcohol testing before being accepted for employment. Many of our summer staff are full time educators during the school year or full time college students.

6. What types of activities do you have?

Our summer camp activities and programs consist of, but are not limited to the following, swimming, sports and games, arts and crafts, fine arts, field trips, tennis and golf.

7. How can I pay for camp?

You can pay by check, money order, cash, or credit card. If you register online, payment must be by credit card.
