In coordination with the emergency declarations the Dallas Park and Recreation Department is closely monitoring information about the coronavirus (COVID-19), and has developed a plan based on the recommendations from health officials to ensure every precaution is taken to keep customers and staff healthy and safe.In an effort to reduce the community spread of COVID-19, effective Saturday, March 14, 2020, Dallas Park and Recreation Centers and facilities will be closed, and all Department organized programs are suspended until further notice. Additionally, athletic fields will be closed for all reservations and organized play. All parks, golf courses, and tennis centers will remain open at this time.

After careful consideration and the current Dallas County report of record high COVID-19 daily numbers, Dallas Park and Recreation Department has determined it is in the best and safest interest of participants and staff to cancel the following programs this summer season:• Aquatics (does not include spraygrounds)• 13-Recreation Summer Camps• 10-Roving Recreation Camps (park site programming)• 12-Outdoor Adventures (program designed to introduce youth and families to kayaking, photography, geocaching and mountain biking)
Phase II of Dallas Parks Reopening begins Friday, May 22, 2020
On May 1, Dallas reopens golf courses, tennis facilities and resumes some outdoor activities with specific usage restrictions.
The City of Dallas will close its parks during Easter weekend to prevent the spread of COVID-19.Park rangers, Park staff, Dallas police, City marshals, parking enforcement, and Code Compliance will monitor the City’s 397 parks during the weekend. Digital messaging boards will alert people the parks are closed.Trails will remain open, but users must abide physical distancing guidelines.The parks will shut down at 9 p.m. Friday, April 10, and will reopen to the public at 7 a.m. Monday, April 13.
Continuing the urgency and need to maintain social distancing we are closing all remaining amenities within the park system which also include public water fountains, restrooms and dog parks. The only remaining use permissible will be open park turf areas and trails observing the 6ft. distance rule. First and foremost, we are strongly encouraging people to stay home but understand that this maybe the only greenspace near their neighborhood. Park Rangers will be monitoring parks and trail usage to ensure compliance of the 6’ ft safe distance requirement.
In an abundance of caution and to maintain social distancing we are closing playgrounds, golf courses and tennis centers effective today (3/17) at 9:00 pm and will be closed until further notice. While use of playground equipment is restricted, open air use of parks and trails will remain open practicing social distancing for others.
