PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The City of Dallas' adult softball program, the Dallas Softball Managers Association (DSMA), offers competitive and recreational softball leagues for Men's and Coed play at several different locations and on every day of the week.  Leagues are held during four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Fall “250” (a league with fences set at 250 feet instead of the normal 300 feet). Locations include Fair Oaks, Churchill, Jamestown and the outstanding state-of-the-art softball complex at Kiest Park. Several tournaments are also held throughout the year at Kiest Park.

PROGRAM HISTORY
The DSMA was founded over 50 years ago to provide organized competition for players of all abilities. Once a sport dominated by Men's teams, softball is today almost equally represented by Coed teams. Over 500 teams currently participate in leagues throughout the year. The DSMA is administered by the Dallas Park and Recreation Department with the assistance of the DSMA Advisory Council.

PROGRAM GOAL
To create an interest in and promote amateur softball in the City of Dallas and to encourage harmony and cooperation among its participants, officials and spectators.

PROGRAM DESIGN
The Spring and Summer softball seasons each consist of 8 games over a 8-week period, with a city championship tournament at the end of each season. Tournament champions advance to the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) State Championship Tournament. The Fall season consists of 8 games over 6 weeks and the Fall “250” season offers 8 games over 4 weeks, with no season-ending tournament in either season.  Leagues are offered in several classifications, ranging from Class C (most competitive), Class C/D and Class D (recreational). Game times for league play are 6:45, 7:45, 8:45 and 9:45, and are distributed as evenly as possible among each league's teams.
