When Farmers Market Friends kicks it up for the 11th annual Hoedown fundraiser on November 3, it won’t be your typical down-home soiree. The benefit at Fair Park’s Food & Fiber Pavilion celebrates the finest in Texas food and wine with an extraordinary evening of dining and dancing.
Says Donna Thomas, event Chairman, “At Hoedown, we use fresh Texas produce, meat and other ingredients since Dallas Farmers Market is so focused on local foods. We bring noted local chefs to the table to create original dishes for sampling; other restaurants and hotels offer tastes of their recipes. Since a ticket includes all food and beverages, our 2,000+ guests also love to try the many Texas wines and beers offered.”
There’s plenty more reasons to mosey on over. Blues and other live bands are on hand to keep the beat. And since this year’s theme is “Garden Party,” another must-do is the Silent Auction, which will tempt bidders with exquisite floral arrangements from premier floral designers.
Farmers Market Friends, the beneficiary of Hoedown, is devoted to promoting and expanding community awareness and utilization of the Dallas Farmers Market, and to raising funds for its preservation, promotion and re-development. If you’re interested in attending the invitation-only event, it’s as easy as calling 972-943-4333 and joining Farmers Market Friends. This year’s honorary Hoedown chairman is real estate legend Ebby Halliday, who has done much to support the organization.
The Farmers Market Hoedown may just be the best-kept secret in town, with its homegrown Texas flavor and casual ambiance. Makes you want to bring your partner and stay for a spell.
