Hold onto your broomsticks…something Wicked this way comes!

Wicked, the hit musical and untold story of the witches of Oz, blows into the Music Hall at Fair Park October 6-23, like a Kansas tornado. This incredible prequel to TheWizard of Oz has already broken box office records on Broadway and garnered major Tony Awards.

“We’re lucky to have the hottest ticket in theatre here in Dallas, just in time for the State Fair of Texas,” says Jo Ann Holt, spokesperson for the Dallas Summer Musicals. “It’s the grandest original musical in a long time and sure to be a classic for audiences of all ages.”

The unlikely friendship between beautiful, ambitious Glinda and passionate, green-skinned Elphaba forms the core of Wicked. What turns them into rivals—the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch—is positively spellbinding. Flying monkeys, munchkins and mayhem add to the fiery brew of excitement.

“There’s also a huge and amazing dragon,” adds Ms. Holt, “with a wingspan as wide as a Cessna 172. The show also uses enough electric power to supply 12 houses, and more than 200 pounds of dry ice per performance.”

Wicked joins an elite group of productions selected to play Dallas as the State Fair Musical. Past State Fair Musicals have included Aida, The Lion King, Cats and The King and I. Among past highlights, Judy Garland made her southwestern debut at the State Fair Musical with her 1957 revue. The Dallas Summer Musicals have been going strong since 1941, when shows were staged in the Fair Park Band Shell.

Tickets are going fast for Wicked, starring Stephanie J. Block as Elphaba, Kendra Kassebaum as Glinda and Carol Kane as Madame Morrible. Visit www.dallassummermusicals.org and get tickets to the show with the brain, the heart and the courage to be a triumph!
