Ready, Set, Glow! “Fair Park in Lights” will brighten up December.

In a twinkling, Fair Park will be transformed from Texas’ premier fall destination to Texas’ newest holiday wonderland. The 2nd annual Fair Park in Lights extravaganza kicks off Sunday, December 3 from 4-8 p.m. with the holiday tree lighting on the Esplanade. Visitors can then come back any December night to see the lights again and again.

Attendees will stroll down a path of multicolor lighted trees, towering from 15 to 35 feet. Each one will have a red, green or gold base to make it extra festive. “The effect is that the trees will reflect into the water,” explains Mark Jarrell, Assistant General Manager of Fair Park. “The Esplanade fountain will also add to the shimmering, magical atmosphere.”

Scattered throughout the yuletide setting will be special light displays, many of them animated. Each year, more displays will be added as sponsors are found for them. Ebby Halliday Realtors has already signed on a sponsor and other sponsorship opportunities are still available.

Santa will be there with bells and whistles.

There will also be a giant sleigh stacked with wrapped packages, the perfect backdrop for more photo ops.
Savor “Fair Park in Lights” with all your senses. Feast your ears on the sounds of ensembles, bell choirs, dancing groups and musicians while treating yourself to gingerbread cookies, cider and other goodies. “Holiday Critters” (costumed animal characters) and elves will charm their way around. Don’t forget the hayride or Santa’s Workshop for the children. Visitors are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy for the Navidad in the Neighborhood program.

“Fair Park in Lights” is sponsored by the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, Friends of Fair Park and Ebby Halliday Realtors.

In the future, as the “Fair Park in Lights” celebration grows in popularity, there will be millions of lights and a unique holiday marketplace for shoppers, believes Mark Jarrell. “When it comes to holiday cheer at Fair Park, we want to spread it to as many folks as possible.”
