Cutting down a tree
The Dallas Park and Recreation Department maintains 21,000 acres of developed and undeveloped parkland and 115 miles of developed trails. The department maintains the health and vigor of trees on 374 parks to protect the urban canopy through tree maintenance, pruning, removal, and responding to 311 calls. A citizen forestry course is offered to teach basic tree physiology and botany, tree identification, and adult educational forums.
